XX Biennial of Flamenco. From 6 to 30 September. Seville, 2018.

In the Dormitorio Alto of the Convent of Santa Clara, the event was attended by numerous artists and the mayor of the city, Juan Espadas, who delivered the Giraldillo ‘Ciudad de Sevilla’. The masters Ana María Bueno, José Galván, Manolo Marín and Milagros Menjíbar received the Giraldillo statuette of the Biennial for their show ‘Bailando una vida’ that took place atthe Teatro de la Maestranza on September 10th, 2016. In his speech, Espadas announced the date of the 20th edition of the Biennial of Flamenco, to be held from 6th to 30th September 2018. In addition, he announced that the festival will have new spaces such as the Fábrica de Artillería (Artillery Factory).

The XIX Bienal de Flamenco has recognized the following artists:

Giraldillo Revelation: María Terremoto.

Giraldillo Innovation: Rocío Márquez and Fahmi Alqhai for their show “Diálogos de viejos y nuevos sones.

Giraldillo Momento Mágico (Magic Moment): José Valencia for his evocation of the maestro Juan Peña ‘El Lebrijano’.

Giraldillo Mejor Espectáculo (Best Show): Patricia Guerrero for ‘Catedral’.

Giraldillo al Cante: Marina Heredia.

Giraldillo to the Dance: Rocío Molina.

Giraldillo to the guitar playing: Vicente Amigo.

Giraldillo at the proposal of the Jury: Corps de ballet of Ballet Flamenco de Andalucía.

Giraldillo ‘Ciudad de Sevilla’ (‘City of Seville’): For the show ‘Bailando una vida’ of Milagros Menjíbar, José Galván, Ana María Bueno and Manolo Marín. Directed by Rubén Olmo.
