Tía Juana la del Pipa, Remedios Amaya y Juana Amaya GITANAS. AL ARTE DE SU VUELO. XX EDICIÓN Sep. Thu 27 | 20:30 | De 22,00€ a 40,00€ | BUY

Juana Amaya: “For me it is a great honor to work with Juana and Remedios, both of them, because I admire them very much. In the Biennial I have worked since I was a little girl, now I was a few years old that I have not had occasion, then the “Gitanas” gives me great joy and I really want to act in the Maestranza. I started in the old way, to dance in the house, learning in the patio with my uncle Pepe Ríos and my cousin brother Ramón Barrull. Then I started working with Mario Maya, with the flamenco summit, with Chana, Joaquín, Canales … The best, and from there I went on the road trying to get rich from them. At the same time, I try to always dance with my heart and preserve the aesthetics of my time and my land, without deviating in other ways “.

Aunt Juana la del Pipa: “To come to sing at the Teatro de la Maestranza for me is a sublime thing and more with these two historical women such as Juana and Remedios. Just thinking about it motivates me and I will give my soul and my heart for Soleá, for Seguiriya, for Tientos-Tangos and of course my Bulerías de Jerez. Jerez has something special that the land gives, everyone sings and dances but with a different flavor, even the palms in Jerez are different. That something is the origin of everything, the seal that the Lord has given us. I dedicate this performance to my children, who have more children than furniture in my house. ”

Remedios Amaya: “… The cante for me means everything, it is my life, it is everything for me, I do not know how to do anything other than sing. They take away my singing and take my life. It’s not because I’m from Seville, but in my land there’s a lot of art, art is very popular and of course I’m proud to feel Sevillian … For me, singing in Maestranza means being in one of the most important theaters there in the whole world and where the artist shines. It’s an honor to act there … “

Indicación: It is the work of the architects Aurelio del Pozo and Luis Marín. It was inaugurated in 1991. The main hall has a cylindrical shape with a capacity for 1800 spectators. It is distributed in stalls, two terraces, a balcony and paradise. In the year 2007 a reform was made that doubled the size of the stage, which went from 800 square meters to 1600. Thanks to its variable acoustics, different shows can be performed, from operas to classical concerts and recitals, including flamenco, ballet and zarzuelas. In addition to the main hall, the complex contains experimental theater rooms, exhibitions, conferences and a cultural research center. Of particular note is the Manuel García room, in which chamber operas and small format are represented. Likewise, the Teatro de la Maestranza is the headquarters of the Royal Symphony Orchestra of Seville (ROSS), which not only regularly participates in opera performances, but also has an intense concert season throughout the season. In the 2007 reform, an exclusive testing room was incorporated for ROSS.
