In 1998 la Bienal celebrates with ten editions, reaching the end of the Century as the most important flamenco event worldwide. This edition hosts shows that are considered to be authentic milestones in the recent history of this art. We’re talking about premieres like ‘Locura de brisa y trino’, created by Manolo Sanlúcar with Carmen Linares, ‘Mira/Los zapatos rojos’ from Israel Galván –the first piece created for his own company-, Enrique Morente’s ‘Poema del cante jondo’ or María Pagés’ ‘La Tirana’. Other great artists featured on this edition are Gualberto, Mario Maya, the Compañía Andaluza de Danza, Sara Baras, Eva Yerbabuena, Diego de Morón or Juan Valderrama. Joaquín Sáenz, designer of the first Bienal poster back in 1980, works again this year and present a piece that pays homage to the Alameda de Hércules.
