The III Bienal goes from September the 11th to October the 12th 1984 adding new venues (Torre de Don Fadrique, Monasterio de San Jerónimo or Plaza del Lucero) to its traditional roster (Real Alcázar, Teatro Lope de Vega, Hotel Triana). Guitar is the protanist. The Giraldillo al Toque is unanimously won by Manolo Franco and the contest for young talents, Concurso de Jóvenes, is conquered by Niño de Pura. The programme includes great masters such like Rafael Riqueni, Manolo Sanlúcar, Serranito, Paco de Lucía, Mario Maya, Enrique Morente and the Habichuelas. The closing act features Mario Escudero, Calixto Sánchez, Enrique de Melchor, Chano Lobato, Matilde Coral and El Mimbre.

The poster is created by the Granada-born, Paris-based artist Manuel Ángeles Ortiz, who sadly dies during the artistic development, being the final art of one his sketches.
